October Meeting

The Next Orange County Atheists meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 18 at 7:30PM at the International House of Pancakes at 18542 MacArthur Blvd in Irvine, near John Wayne Airport.

Hopefully you remember me, I hav not seen many of you at the Atheists Unites O.C. meetings lately, a bumer. Anyhow our next brunch is coming up on Oct 8, usual place the IHOP on MacArthur Bl across from the John Wayne Aiport. Starts at 10:30. Also as a side note I am participating in the Aids walk Los Angeles on
Oct 15 and I am loking for sponsors. to do
so here is the following
If yo wish to sponsor me for the AIDS WALK Los Angeles on OCT 15. you can do so online. It REAL Easy. First got the website of www.aidswalk.net select Los Angeles. On the Rights side of the Screen is a sectin labled "Visitors" in that area is a line that states "Sponsor a Walker" click on that line. You will then be asked to enter the Walkers first and last name my first and last name correctly spelled are
"Norman" "Abshear", you should then be take to my personal webpage automatically set up for me by this website you have a choice of preselected amounts or a place to enter a different amount.Also if you wish to join us for this casual stroll through Los Angeles yu are more than welcome. Very unfortunately, there is a scheduling conflict between this and another event on the same night, a free talk, from an atheist perspective, on "Religion and Morality" starting at 7:30pm at the Hyatt Regency Irvine closeby. Below is a quote from the announcement of the other event.

"From the teaching of "Intelligent Design" in the classroom to federal prohibition on the funding of stem cell research to the Terri Schiavo case, religion is playing an increasing role in America's public life. The advocates of religion claim that only religion can restore values to America--by combating moral skepticism and relativism with an absolute view of right and wrong, applicable to everyone. If God is dead, it is often thought today, then everything would be permitted. But does morality rest on religion? Can it rest on religion? Are moral absolutes possible with religion? Without religion? What approach to morality can actually bring values to American culture? These are the questions this talk will address."
