Rep. Pete Stark Holds No God-Belief

The Secular Coalition for America announced today that Rep. Pete Stark (D-Calif.) is first Congress member in history to acknowledge his nontheism. The Coalition's research reveals that Rep. Stark is the first open nontheist in the history of the Congress. Click above for SCA's press release. Friendly Atheist also has a nice history and write up. Thank you Rep. Stark!

Apr. 2, 2007 - Nebraska State Sen. Ernie Chambers has confirmed his nontheism to the Secular Coalition for America. Sen. Chambers, who holds the record for longest tenure in the Nebraska Senate, now becomes the second highest level public servant to self-identify with our community, joining the ranks of U.S. Rep. Pete Stark and three local level elected officials.
